Ram Died :(

My ram cichlid died today, i had noticed last night it was spending a lot of time at the surface opening and closing its mouth, apart from that there has been nothing wrong please help

almost certainly too much ammonia or lack of oxygen. what type of ram was it ? german blue rams are hard to keep. do a big water change. what is your surface agitation like ? what temp ? any other fish doing the same ?

My bristlenose seems to be coming up for air too and my diffuser isn't working properly at the moment could this be the cause? and yes german blue
