Following on from a recent post and doing a bit of research I am going to ATTEMPT to raise my RCC eggs when the time comes.. Yes I know it will probably be an impossible task but I like a challenge!! :hyper:

Can I have some advice about the set up I should provide...

Currently I have a 2 ft long tank with approx 3inchs water in/bog wood/plants etc for the two adults to live in and another tank which is all sand based with a large tray and heated water for a crab that has lost a claw, and several legs (he was probably going to meet his maker if I hadn't moved him to his own tank).

Should I re-organise and set up the vulnerable crab's tank as a nursery for when the eggs are ready to hatch, along with a sponger filter? and shine a light into the tank (as I don't have one installed), meaning that crab will have to take his chances back in with the other two...OR can I get away with partitioning off a 1/4 of the 2ft long tank for the eggs/babies when the time comes and perhaps remove the big filter, replacing it with a sponge filter? I have read the babies that die can cause high Nitrate/Nitrite levels so obviously this would contaminate the two adults (which I don't want to happen)...OR shall I just leave fate to fate leave everything as it is and if by any romote chance the eggs/babies survive then i've lost nothing? I'd really like to give them a chance tho...

Any suggestions pleeeeease??
