Rainbow X Chocolate?

MY female rainbow cichid wants to breed... and wont leave my chocolate cichlid alone.. I don't think he's interested.. I'm not positive it's a he.. but I don't think the rainbow is a lesbien.

Shes been rubbing up against him and her tube is out.. I would like to see them spawn, but if he's not interested, I'm definitely going to try one of my male rainbows with her if she's that eager to spawn.


I do believe rainbow x chocolate is possible.. anyone have any other opinions?

why not just get a male rainbow cichlid.

I have 2 male rainbow cichlids.. but they don't like her. Tried to kill her last time they were all together.

Might try her with one of them eventually if the chocolate cichlid doesn't show any interest.

Nope, they are completely differant species of fish, would be like mateing a rabbit and a hamster, cant be done conventually, though they both are mammles. Gouramis build bubble nests, and i beleive rainbows deposit their eggs along the bottom, may have to check me on that one. Id get her a male to mate with if you have the room.

They're guarding an area... I'm hoping for some eggs.. If they do lay eggs, I'm removing all the fish from the tank except for the rainbow mom.

I'm really hoping for some eggs within the next few days..

I think I'll go change 30% of the water and see if that triggers them to spawn.
