Rainbow, White Fungus

I have a ten gal tank with a Autralian Rainbow and a White Skirt Tetra, however the rainbow just died of a white fungus, the tetra is fine...i know that there is always a small amount of it in the tank...but should i empty and clean the tank? i just moved which could have caused it stress and thus lower its immunities to this kind of stuff...im just wondering if the water in the tank is ok?

the white fungus was probably ick which can be contagious. i would do a partial water change once the tank gets settled after the move. then if the tetra shows any white spots on him at all, use ich treatment which you can get at most pet stores
