Bumping this to hopefully get an idea from the pictures what could be up with the Platy...
Thanks
Dave...

Yes that white patch is worrying.
Does it look like bleaching beneath the skin.
Any sign of flicking and rubbing.

Theres no rubbing and the skin appears to be ok, Im worried about the white stuff coming out of her back end.... :(

The white stuff does it look beaded.
She could be aborting or it could be numbers of thing like internal parasites.
The white stuff can you see any dead fry, or worms.
The patch on her not right either it could be columnaris.

Sorry I thought it was a wagtail platy, never heard of rainbow platy.
The markings might be normal then on her body.

Thanks for the reply, I can't see any dead fry, however it does looked beaded to a certain degree...
If its internal parasites what is the best course of action, should I segregate or use a treatment
in the main tank?

cheers

Dave

When it look beaded it can be abortion.
Signs of internal parasites are.
long stringy white poo, or clear mucas poo.
Red worms prutruding from the anus.
Looking skinny or bloated.
Bent spines sometimes.
Fish will sometimes swim on there sides.

Thanks for the reply, I segregated and started to treat for internal parasites based upon,

"long stringy white poo, or clear mucas poo and being bloated"

Unfortunately I think I acted to late and the poor platy has passed away, she is in a bigger pond now.....

Thanks again for the replies

Dave
