I wasn't sure which section to put this in so feeling like a moron I put it in Chit Chat :p

On Saturday I'm going to be buying my dwarf neon rainbowfish - I'm hoping to get around 6, since I'm earning money now and I feel like throwing some of it around on more expensive fish

What is a good m/f ratio for dwarf neon rainbows?

I have seen most places recommend a 1:1 ratio, if you are going for uneven numbers, get an extra female, not an extra male. :D

I kept a school of them with a 2m5f ratio with no problems, just don't get too many males and it should be fine. You're going to love them, they are so gorgeous! :hey:

I might get 3 M 3 F then.. no doubt it'll change depending on what they have ;)
I would go with 2M 4F.

Your going to love them. When the light hits them at the right angle, they shimmer like no other fish. Beautiful.

Good luck!

Out of interest tho, whats the reasoning behind 2M 4F instead of 3 each?
To prevent aggression by the males. 2 males will spread out their aggression better with 4 females as opposed to 3M to 3F. :)
