Rainbow Fish

Does anyone know if it's true that different types of rainbow fish will shoal together. So, if you were meant to get 6 you could have, for example, 3 bosemanis and 3 blue rainbow fish and they'd be just as happy as 6 bosemanis??

Can't think where I read it and just wanted it confirmed before I go ahead with my stocking plans!

From my experience they do shoal together, but I do not know if they are "happy".What I mean is that they act just fine.
