i was just wondering since i have no lfs its very far away i cant take a drive to get ro water, so i must create my own... so instead of buying distilled water wich adds up, i was wondering can i use rain water ? ha ha

No...
Rain will be collected most probably from areas that will carry pollutants or farmers fields and thus carry poisonous materials. It can travel hundreds of miles before being dropped as rain. You can never be sure what you are collecting when you use rainwater. I dont recomend it at all.

Easiest way to get RO Water - is buy an RO Unit

Collecting Rain these days in almost any part of the world is a defo No-no

I agree. Although Oregon may be one of the least likely places to have severe acid rain, you'll still get plenty of pollutants in rain water. Not to mention all the airborne debris that can get caught in your collection tank and foul it up. Bad idea IMO.

Rain tends to be beneficial for tanks the opposite of marine, that is South American tanks requireing soft acidic water. Pollutants are a risk, but not the main problem. Most rain is just the wrong end of the scales for marine aquaria.

oh man alright ha ha didnt think of it that way, its cuz our water has alot of sulfer and iron in it and i dotn wanna risk using it especially with my urchin whose doing so well, he would nuke the tank, so ya ok hmm maybe i can gte ro water from a petstorw chain liek petco???? well how much do these ro units cost? ha ha well i used to do the sponge thing where u put a bunch of animal safe sponges into a water filled contairner and the good stuff evaporates into the sponges and the metals stay in the container, but it takes FOREVER!!!!!! so hmm i will do distilled water thie weekend again then try to get my hands on a ro unit!!!!

Especially since your tank is small and your usage will be light, I'd reccomend searching for a smaller used one. you can prolly get one for around $50-$75 used. If you do buy used, make sure the membranes are still good...
