Rain Water

If I was to collect rain water for a new tank set up or for my existing tanks would the water need to be treated with anything before adding to the tank?
If so, treat with what and why?

well i wouldn't use just the rainwater by itself because it's lacking stuff that fish and plants need (it's too soft as strange as that sounds). I would mix it with a little tapwater (how much depends on how soft you want it) and then treat with something to get rid of chlorine and chloramine cuz the tapwater will have that.

Rainwater often contains nasty chemicals from the atmosphere and is normally fairly acidic. I believe the ph is around 5.0. Be careful when using it.
