Alright, so I'm going home in a little until monday. Is it smarter to leave the fish without food for almost 4 days than to pack them up? I took a few home with me and they really didn't like it, they got horizontal stripes etc and what not, I don't want to stress them out but I'm also worried that they would starve but I know they can go a while withot food. They get fed 2 a day every day but last weekend some of them stayed here for 2 days too, and I don't want to just feed them 4 or 5 times a week, that's not enough. Ideas?

No you don't have to worry about feeding them because most fish before their shipped aren't fed 3 to 4 days before their shipped and they stay unfed while they are being shipped with however long it takes and most fish can go almost two weeks without food but don't do them like this unless you have to. So four days is fine in fact I used to put vacation feeders in my bigger tanks like 20 gallon tanks and they would eat it up in a few hours so they wouldn't have anything to eat for a few days while I was gone so like I said don't worry and those horizontal lines you saw on the fish were stress stripes which show up when they are really stressed.

Thanks durb,
the two that I took last weekend seemed fine , they never even lost their colour, just the girl, I think she'll be fine now though. I took half of them, the rest I left there, I turned the heat up in the girls tank and forgot to turn it back down cause I was in a rush, hopefully they wont boil

Bettas can live for two weeks or more without food, so it's not going to bother them to miss a few days... they'll just be extra happy to see you upon your return, haha! Some people only feed their fish every-other day, so 4 or 5 feedings a week is actually plenty.

Oh my, thanks Synirr, I guess I'm just a worrywart. I'm gunna get the boy and girl ready this weekend, that's why I took them home. My new crownie I also took with.
The ones that came last week are happy though and seem used to this, but it'll be the last time til xmas that I'm taking them with.
