i got a used fluval 403 and asked about it awhile ago found the manual on the internet put am sorta unclear if i can but two different types of filtermedia into one module thingy? and do you have to replace the little tube things with the tiny holes all over often or ever?

So i was planning on usesing just the spnge the tubey things with the holes and carbon Any problems?

imma gonna bump this again caus i got no answers and I am setting it up now

was gonna do it a few days ago though...

please help they'r pretty easy questions i think just not sure

I wouldnt see a problem with using more than one thing in a compartment. I have a 303 and use the ceramic noodles on the bottom, then a bag of carbon on the second level and the 2 sponges on the top level. I will recommend buying one of the bags of carbon that will fit in there, as it is a pain to change or take out the loose stuff if you need to use meds. I have never had a problem with the water being crystal clear for me without using floss in it though.....

fo you mean i should consider the floss i thought it did about the same thing as the sponge and their was peat in a bag this would be the same sorta bag I could put charcoal in?

Thankyou this has been up for a few days and i was getting worried noone would answer

EDIT-> thanks again

As for the floss, if you have it and want to give it a try... if not the sponges will be fine by themselves. And yes, the bag with peat in it would be fine for carbon or whatever in it, I have also used a well rinsed old nylon in a pinch.

*EDIT* Nevermind about the floss, I thought I read that you wanted to use it, but I obviously was wrong. Ceramic noodles on the bottom, Carbon Bag in the middle, and Sponges on the top. You could use the sponges in the middle and the carbon and some floss on the top too.. I have heard that it will polish the water quite well, but like I said I have never had a problem without it.
