I have already had a small fish only tank which dechlorinated water and it was fine for over a year until i shut it down but yeah, I though as much on the coral side

Yep, corals need ro water as said above :good:

Have to say that this is not my experience. I keep the corals in my sig using non RO untreated tap water.

For water changes I user tap water and mix the salt with a Powerhead for 24hrs.

For top ups I simply leave my water container out to get it to room temp and then drop it in. Water chemistry is different everywhere though.

Buddyboy uses tap water also, however as you rightly say, water composition is very different throughout the country.

Some people may be ok, some won't. It is better sometimes to err on the side of caution and go with RO.

It really does depend on the corals and inverts you are keeping too.

Hmmm is there any way to test the water? Like other than the obv aquarium tests. I kept a tomato clown, a firefish and a bengal cardinal (and a cleaner shrimp for the last month that i had the tank, i decided to give the fish away and close the tank down) in dechlorinated tap water and they were fine and this was a fish only tank running on a powerfilter for filteration. I know its a HUGE leap from fish to inverts but its interesting.

Also could i use bottled water? Although, how am i going to get 120 litres of bottled water home lol I have also asked all my LFS if they sell Ro water and all have said no which is annoying. Grrr

Hmm... This leaves alot to think about.

if you go on your water board things website ie thames water , they give you all the info about the water chemestry in your area
