Quick Question

So im planning on starting a nano soon (still reading) and i have a quick question

Im planning to have a 10g sump under a 15g tank thinking more water = more stable, would i have to up the amount of LR to that of a 25g tank (hoping to turn the sump into a refigum as well)

You don't have to, but more = better so if you can put a bit more in there it won't hurt as long as the water movement across it is good.

Ultimately you'll only be stocking the display tank so as long as you have enough rock for that, you'll be ok.

Got another question (trying to keep to one post)

so far there is a refugium return pump at 110gph (i tested it at the height i need) a fluval canistar filter that will just have rowaphos in it at 100gph ish, so far thats 200gph if i added a power head at 250gph that takes it to 450gph (22.5x turnover)should that be enough and does the setup sound ok so far for a 20g system.

I think im right but would like to check before i start plumbing

HOw are you getting the water from the tank to the sump?

Having the tank drilled next week and then installing a 1" durso.

Could any one tell me if power compacts are of without a splash gaurd ?

Usually not ok, especially if the lights are within a few inches of the surface. A big enough splash, or a jumping fish can pop a bulb and spill mercury all in your tank...

A new plan is needed now any way broke my hood while putting fans in, Its one of those diy jobs that half way through i thought i should have just got a new tank and built a hood from scratch, Now i have a bow front tank with no hood and plastic moulding which makes putting a new hood on a real PITA

So it looks like im going to do it properly with a new tank cant decide cube or hex (leaning towards hex)
