quick question

Hi,

Just wondering if it would be better to use distilled or Spring bottled water for starting up a new tank?

Distilled water cant support life because it is too pure, bottled spring water is ok, but its a good idea to get the fish used to your tap water, as this is what you will be using for water changes. The PH, hardness and other parameters should not change drastically from water change to water change. If I were starting over, I would age some water in a large clean container, maybe with some carbon in and a pump or airstone to keep it circluating. If the tap water is chlorinated, it will evaporate after48 hours, Chloramines on the other hand will need to be removed chemically with a good water conditioner.

Thanks for the info Ken. I had though I had read something like that about distilled somewhere or the other.

Have an endless supply of Spring water as the Wife works for the local bottler. So I think I'll just stick to that as who knows what is in the tap water around here.
