How do peeps.

Avid forum fans (you people that try and read every post...you know who you are :p ) may be aware that I am approaching the final stages of setting up my 85gal (UK - around 100?US) tank with it's two 15 gallon sumps.

I am now starting to consider how to actually set this up, in particular the water.

Would it be alright to add the water straight to the tank from the tap via hose and add the dechlorinater as it goes in or must it be added straight away? (this applies to both the first fill and the water changes) I'm dreading all the buckets of water otherwise...

Also, once the water is in, dechlorinated and the sand and plants are settled would I be ok to take about half the filter media from my old tank (all the fish will transport accross) a bundle of the gravel in a stocking and move around half the fish down?

all responses are gratefully received :D

Yes you can fill the tank via a hosepipe. As for water changes that is possible as well but be aware of the temperature of the water going in.
Add dechlorinator to the inital set up as you are filling it and before you re-fill for water changes.

your plan about the filter media is spot on, this is called cloning a tank and therfore it does not need to cycle.

That's fine. It's exactly what I was hoping for.

What I'll probably do is buy like a 30 gallon tub and mix the declohrinator in there and pump the water from that to the tank (I have a couple of spare powerheads from the previous UG filter (YUK ))

Just hoping to make sure I know exactly how to do this before I go for it  . I'm desperate to get my Bala shark out of the 4 foot and into the 6 foot where there'll be room for a couple more to school with ;) .

Thanks again for the advice.
