Quick Question From A Complete Idiot

just a quick question, my small tank is just cycling with LR at the moment, should I turn on the protein skimmer, or wait until the tank is cycled?

You can turn it on now if you like. It will speed up the cycle most likely, as any dissolved organics in the water will be removed by the skimmer.

Cheers AK, Will turn it on then, also got two seio M620's in the tank, give a very good flow but I am finding them a little noisy, are the Koralia's any quieter?

I've got twin Koralia 3's and they are fantastically quiet. I can't compare them to the Seio's but they are very, very quiet.

Are you sure that they are seated correctly and there is nothing loose on the pump that's causing vibrations? My old pumps, although louder than the Koralia's would make an annoying buzzing if a snail touched them and the glass at the same time. lol

No, they are seated properly, one powerhead went in new today and makes the same noise as the other, they are louder than a maxijet 1200 in another tank. Chose these because of the saving on electricity and the fact that they give a much better flow, just didn't expect them to be louder than a cheapo maxijet.

Ah ok then.

The Koralia 3's pump 3200 LPH and use 5.5w, are super silent, easy to mount and position and clean. Just be careful with the impeller shaft as they can snap if caught at a funny angle though

No worries. BTW, the cheapest place I found on ebay was Aquacadabra/Peter Amos. Very reliable vendor with sensibly priced items and delivery. Bought many things from him and they have always arrived in good time and without a hitch.

Yeah, he's very good, the same place i got the seio's. I used to live 100 metres from them then I moved to the Isle Of Wight.
Wish I was there now the amount I keep spending on bloody potage .
