any hybrid fish ideas for a 20gallon :good:

im tryna find something unusual for this tank :hyper:

a jelly bean maybe nice.
full of character.
If not. Blood parrots.

Im sorry but that was lousy advice. A 20gal could not hold any known hybrid cichlids as its too small, even for a jellybean which is not real hybrid but a shortbody pink convict. A true "jellybean" (blood parrot x pink convict) can grow bigger than convicts. Blood parrot can even outgrow 20gal in few months as some strains can reach more than 10 inch long.

So avoid any hybrid cichlids. But since you want some interesting hybrids, try Black limia which is a hybrid livebearer between blackbelly limia and molly. They will flocking breed which mostly hybrid cichlids don't do that.

i was gonna say i know i cannot fit one in the 20gallon lol

have u any pictures of this hybrid?

I think a pair of JB parrots (short body cons) would do fine in a 20gal.

I do apologise for my lousy advice,
as i was serving customers at the time.

Allow me to reinstate my answer.

A jellybean would be nice in a 20 gal tank, they dont grow too big, and are a nice looking fish with a bunch of character.
They can be andusually are aggressive towards tank mates though.

i wipe clean blood parrots as an option. i do not believe a 20 gal to now be suitable for one for its entirelife, being as the tank size is too small.

Butch try to be less rude next time,
As for your comment on jellybeans i agree with T

I wasn't being rude at all, I was just saying that it wasn't wise advice. Next time ignore me.

Shortbodied pink convicts aka jellybean parrot could work out in 20gal only if you provide them the shelter from each other as they can be aggressive. Make sure you get a proven pair or get a group of youngesters to growing till you get a pair, sell the rest or rehouse them.

no need to buy a gang of little jellybeans just get a male and female as they are really easy to tell apart.
males are peachy pink all over and the females are the same color as the males but has an orange belly when not breeding and when the females are in breeding mode almost half there body turns bright red orange.
i had these little buggers for almost 2 years before i went to another type of cichlids.
they breed like almost every month and some times lay another set of eggs while raising weeks old frys.
dont worry about the extra set of eggs they lay it will be eaten by the 1st batch of fry for protein to grow faster.
if you do get them use flower pots as breeding site as mine always laid it all over the inside top of the flowerpot.
good luck with them if u decide to get them.
p.s. dont stick your hands in the water when they are spawning they are very agressive and will deliver a nasty bite.
