Quick Cure question

I thought I had some small white spots on a few fish and added Quick Cure (malachite green) last night so I could have a pre-emptive strike on Ich. In hindsight, I think I reacted to something that was not Ich - maybe nip damage. I put 8 drops in a 20g (US) tank because I have tetras. Can the med harm the fish at all if they really don't have Ich? - I don't plan on using it again until MANY white spots show.

No, it wont do much harm whether there are parasites or not. Still,its not nice stuff, so I would put some carbon into the filter and do a 15% water change every 2 or 3 days for a week or two to help heal the wounds.
