Hi all

i have decided that the first fish i will add to my new 100gl tank is going to be clown fish, obvious choise i know :) , but i would like to get 3 all different colours if i can, would this be ok, i will be adding them all at the same time if not only a day or two apart. how many other fish would i be able to accomodate after the 3 are added?

Thanks
VM

It's not advised to put more than 2 clowns together in a tank. More than likely 2 would pair up and the third would get bullied. i've heard of people mixing different species of clowns. There are some I'd stay away from with Maroon clowns being one of them. How about a Black Ocelaris and a regualr colored one? That'd be cool and it's possible.

Since it's a 100g you could have quite a few other fish :good:

i have a regular coloured one and a B&W one. My origional orange one is dead an the B&W was the only clown for sale in the shop. They get on great and im really glad i ended up with him now. Got a really cool little orange splodge on his nose and eats like a fat kid on cake.

I have mixed the black and whites with the commons too with great sucess. They seem to tolerate each other very well. And also as above the black and whites are very hardy and will nosh like no other fish in the tank, with the exception of the Tangs ;)
Avoid tomatos and maroons at all costs though. They are trouble from day one and speaking from experience are total bullies even if they do have bags of charachter to bag it up. I would say though that no more than 2 in a 100l then maybe something like a clown goby / firefish etc, bicolour blennys are also nice small tank fish that are interesting to watch and reef safe.
Try and get one larger than the other with the clowns and add at the same time if possible. Freshly hatched brine shrimp Ive found is a must for getting the orange guys to eat.
