Questions Re: Fluval Fx5

Thinking of getting the fx5 off ebay and jus wanted to know a few things first.

the tanks its going on has been drilled already, one hole at one end and 2 at the other but unfortunately the 2 holes are up against the wall so i cant get to them.

tanks 6' aswell so i wont be flipping it around.


my question is, does the tank have to be drilled or can i hook it over the edge somehow?


also, is it a loud filter and does it come with everthing i need?

Can just use it like a normal external and put the pipes in through the top.....

I have heard they are a little noisy. But hey!, its a big filter, and it's not the cheapest to run either.

I just got one myself.

It doesn't come with bio-media just sponge. It comes with 3m of hose and clamps that hold the hose over the edge of the tank. It also comes with an outlet nozzle that points in two directions, and an intake thingo.

As far as loud goes, if I am sitting next to it with no other noise then yes I can hear it. If I have the tv or radio on I can't. Also I have an air powered sponge filter on another tank in the same room and that drowns out the noise of the FX5.
