how much do u pay per month for rent or livery: $160

Ryssa (Mustang mare, my primary horse)
what size is your horse(hh) - 13 hands, maybe a little less
how old is it - She's 6.
how often is it shod - She isn't shod, as Mustangs naturally have very hard feet, and don't really need it.
what type of riding do you do and how often - Western, though I'm trying to get back into English as well (more classes at shows if I do). We also do parades, are in a drill team, and show in horse shows.
how much did the horse cost - $125, the usual fee for a Mustang
live in or out - She lives on two half-acre properties, with free access to two different barns
how much do u pay per month for rent or livery - We own the properties she lives on, so there's no rent. Food is about $3.00 U.S. a bale, delivered and stacked.

Shiloh (Mustang gelding, my mother's horse)
what size is your horse(hh) - About 15 hands. He was 14.2 hands at 2 years old.
how old is it - He's 5.
how often is it shod - Never been shod.
what type of riding do you do and how often - All Western and speed events. This horse also goes to shows, does drill team, and is in parades.
how much did the horse cost - He cost $375, as there was a bidding war at the BLM Wild Horse & Burro adoption we attended on him.
live in or out - Same living conditions as Ryssa.

Casey (Mustang gelding, my mother's horse)
what size is your horse(hh) - About 14 hands.
how old is it - He's 7.
how often is it shod - Never.
what type of riding do you do and how often - Casey has terror issues, and is not ridden at this time.
how much did the horse cost - $125
live in or out - Casey lives in a large corral with access to a nice barn when the weather is less than ideal.
how much do u pay per month for rent or livery - $50 U.S. a month to house him at the neighbor's house. We feed and help clean up after him, the other boarder, and the goat.

Abby Rose (Mustang filly, mine to train and show if I want her)
what size is your horse(hh) - A little over 14 hands.
how old is it - She just turned 3.
how often is it shod - Never.
what type of riding do you do and how often - She was barely started last year, and we're starting to get serious about training this year.
how much did the horse cost - $125
live in or out - She's free to roam with Shiloh and Ryssa, same accomodations.
how much do u pay per month for rent or livery - Same as Shiloh and Ryssa.

Nikki (Mustang filly, also mine to train and show if I want her)
what size is your horse(hh) - A little over 14 hands.
how old is it - 2 1/2, coming on 3 shortly enough.
how often is it shod - Never, though we may have to do corrective shoeing, as her feet are a nightmare.
what type of riding do you do and how often - We won't start her until next year, due to health problems before we bought her.
how much did the horse cost - $125
live in or out - Nikki is separated on her own, with a corral to herself and a stall in the barn.
how much do u pay per month for rent or livery - She lives on our property, so there's no charge for rent.

WoW it's cheap in the USA - I've only ever half shared and livery is like £500 a month over here :X (that's close to $1,000.00 a month!)

Charlie is..

15 hands
12 years old
Shod every four weeks. He has problems with his feet though.
Hacking, shgowjumping, eventing and hunting.
£1800. He was only three and unbroken though
Out with access to his stable. He puts himself in most nights and pulls the door shut too

He lives at home so i dont pay for livery. When i did keep them at livery (a few years ago now!!) it was about £20 a week per horse.. So £80 a month! :D

Shucks that cheap. That's grass only though?

Ah OK, I've mostly shared TB's so they can't live on grass all the time and their food & supplements are quite costly.

As i said, it was a few years ago! I have no idea what it would cost now

It was actually a small stableyard on the grounds of a huge mansion! The guy had built it for his daughters horses then she lost interest so he decided to make it a small livery yard :D There were only four other horses and my two. Huge, old fashioned stables, your choice of the hundreds of acres of fields, a nice little sand area to ride and jump in, and you were able to ride anywhere on the grounds! :D

God, i wish i could go back there.. Too much work keeping them at home

Well I live in the country and the barn I boarded at was a remodelded Tennesee Walking Horse barn. It was quite large..as it had about 50 stalls in the front and about 10 in the back (for quarentine (before being put with the general population) or for when they were sick, pregnant, or injured..as the stalls in back were twice the size of the ones up front and quite a bit seperated from each other..so they weren't close to one another).

Was quite nice..there were about 20 grooming stations in the middle section..where you could brush out your horse and pick their feet (also where the blacksmith came to work on feet as well)...and there were 4 washing stations as well..those were very handy.

I think they were so cheap because #1. no one really boards their horses around here..most everyone has enough land to have it on their property, and #2. there were so many stalls that they wanted to fill them up.

I really liked it there because they let the mares and filly's out in one pasture, the geldings out in another pasture, and they had several 10 ft. fenced paddocks for the stallions that boarded (their stalls were bigger too and had rubberized walls..in case they kicked and had play items for them to take frustration out on)..pretty cool IMO).

what size is your horse(hh) - Bear is 16 hands, Bunny is 17
how old is it - Bear and Bunny are both 8
how often is it shod - Every 6 weeks
what type of riding do you do and how often - English riding, hunters and jumpers, I ride each horse 6 times a week plus I ride other horses on the side
how much did the horse cost - Bear cost $60,000 US, and Bunny was $20,000 US
live in or out - They live in, but go out for 8 hours a day
how much do u pay per month for rent or livery - $500 US

I don't have one now :( but mine in high school was an Arab, 11 years old, 14.2 or 3 hands, he was leased so he didn't cost anything there and I don't recall how much his food cost. We kept him on our property so that didn't cost either.

Now I have property to get a horse again (more than ten years later) but we don't have the budget to feed it so I recently volunteered as a foster mom with a local horse rescue and hope to have a foster here soon.
