I plan on getting a 20 gallon tank with 10 neon tetras and around 5 albino corys and I want to get more fish to put in it. My pet store just got a new load of african clawed frogs in and I was wondering whether a few of them could fit in my tank. Do they have to live in pairs? Or can I just have 1? Also can you feed them blood worms?

african clawed frogs canNOT be kept with fish - they are voracious fish eaters.
Depending on the dimensions, you could have african DWARF frogs.
See the first link in my signature :) I have put together a page with info on how to keep these critters.

But in short, NO. Acf are not compatible with your current stocking

nothing wrong with more ADF :good:

but if you had room in another tank to add the stocking from this 20 gallon to it, you could have 1-2 ACF in the 20 gallon, what are the dimensions?

just some food for thought.

Yeah but they don't currently have any ADF there. And I'm not sure what the dimensions are yet because I'm decided whether or not to get the tall or long 20 gallon tank.

Go with the long. You can have more stock due to more surface area. Also, u can have up to 3 acf in a 20 long

well if you do go down that route I would love to help

Just went to my pet store and they have ADF! :D AND a 20 gallon tank with a table that I can get with it! Oh and btw I saw a black moor goldfish with the ACF. It said in the corner, "ACF will eat small fish". I don't really get why it's in there though because the goldfish section is right next to it and there's not just a ton of goldfish in it.

yes that is not suitable at all - - while ACF can live happily in 65-80 degree water, that goldfish should be in cooler water, and this unfortunately is what gives people the impression that these frogs can be added to tanks with fish

while if added correctly, they COULD (read "COULD!!!") live with larger goldfish - it needs to be done very carefully and requires a LARGE tank with MASSIVE filtration...they needed to be added together while the goldfish is only slightly larger than the acf, this way the frog can't eat the fish, though they may latch onto long trailing fins and rip them, and the frog is too large for the goldfish to eat, but the goldfish can also maim the frog by eating a limb or eye....

best not to risk for either creature

Oh and btw I'm just wondering how do you feed your corys in your aquarium? I feed mine using this way- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEWjYvj9gu4 Just wondering how other people feed theirs.

Yeah I just don't get why they had it in there with them?

why does a LFS do anything it does? why does it sell completely inappropriate stocking to people with unsuitable tanks whether not filtered or too small?

to make money.

if a fish dies, chances are a newbie is going to buy more fish back at the place where the people were so "helpful" - the LFS knows this and this is why they give poor advice and hire people with little to no fish knowledge to sell the "product"

and as for the cories, I used to just put in sinking foods, bloodworms, frozen brineshrimp, algea wafers, peas etc....they are pretty swift at finding food! the little gluttons lol

Yeah it just makes me sad because today I saw someone getting sold a betta and they were getting it like a half a gallon tank. :( Oh and I didn't mean cories lol. I meant ADF.

oh haha! the cories thing did throw me for a loop but i was like, hey, whynot?

for the ADF, in a community tank like that you have a few options

1.) handfeed
2.) feed with a turkey baster (slowly squeeze the food out right infront of the frogs face)
3.) feed the fish right before bed time, pour the frogs food into the same corner every night and turn off the lights. frogs hunt by scent and not by sight so they should, hopefully, find the food before the fish

the second option will probably be the easiest way for you to do it in your set up

btw, love your tank!
