I guess, after reading every ones posts, I am new at fish tanks and fish. I have had fish for 2 years now and I thought I was doing fine. My fish seen to be fine but I want to make sure they live longer. So I have some questions. One, I have a 55 gal. tank with tropical fish in it. Should I keep it at a certain temp.? (My husband likes it cold in the house.) Two, Is a one gal. tank good enough for 2 betas and what temp. should that be at?

Most tropical fish will do well at 72 - 77 degrees. Some like it warmer, like angels and discus. Do you have a heater in the tank?

Not a betta expert, but I read up on 'em in this forum and most people say 1 gallon for 1 betta. You wouldn't want to put 2 in the same tank, unless they were females, or unless you had a divider. You maybe knew that already..

For the 55, always try to maintain a steady temperature. The more you adjust it up and down the more stressed your fish will become. Keep things the same and steady as much as possible.
For me, atleast 1 gallon PER betta is preferred. This will then make this gorgeous fish feel less cramped(i hate any small betta containers). Even 2 females would be cramped in such a small space.

after buying betas in the small containers and puting them into something a little bigger, I thought they would be ok. But as some people put it, how would you like to be in a small container. Just because of that, I will find some thing bigger for them. Thanks everyone.
