Hi. I just got two red eye tetras and two cherry barbs yesterday. The thing is, right now I have them in with a dwarf puffer, which may cause problems because the puffer is an agressive fish.

I don't know alot about red eye tetras or cherry barbs, so I was wondering, if I was to take out the puffer and put it in a seperate tank, and I was to move my betta into the tank with the tetras and the barbs, would that be okay? Do you think they would have fin nipping problems too? If so, I'll just take the puffer out and bring it to my mom's house. My husband will only let me have two tanks at the house right now, so that is why I wanted to put the betta in with the tetras and the barbs.

Any help is much appriciated!!! Thanks!!!

I don't think cherry barbs would nip. Tetras don't tend to nip but I don't have any experience with that particular type.

i think your going to be fine. But the DP might nip the fins of the other fish in the tank but those grow back. 8)

The Red Eyed Tetras will prefer to be in a larger group. They can be nippy, especially when not kept in a group. The barbs are no trouble, a non shaling species best kept as a pair.

I'm saving up to get two or three more red eyes. But I need to wait a little while to make sure that my tank doesn't get overloaded to quickly.

I've noticed so far that the betta chases the others but the others leave it alone. :dunno: It seems okay so far. I've got the betta's 1 gallon tank set up next to the main tank so if there is any trouble I can get him out.
