I happen to have a very gentle male Betta called Shy-Guy who is in a ten gallon with three females now. He had originally been working on his bubblenest for the pass few days.

Lately though he has stopped, any ideas?????

He may feel as if it will be impossible for him to defend the nest from three hungry females. Try removing all the females except the one you plan to breed.

That's good advice that was just given.

Also, you might want to make sure the female you choose is full of eggs, otherwise the male will chase her to death. Try a tank divider to get the fish interested in each other.

He doesn't chase them... I am looking at the tank right now.

Three females are swimming in the front, and he is with them. Sometimes one of the females passes so close going in the opposite way that he is going, that she brushes through his fins.

Except for a little bickering when the red female [Ruby, a real b****] was added last night there has been nothing.

I think I have an idea why he has lost interest in the bubblenest making, the temperature dropped to 74 degrees when I was doing some water changes. It is usually 80-81 degrees.
