first question.. ive heard that you can mix live rock with ( dead rock?? ) whats the ratio? half dead, half live rock?? also.. how long does it take for a new tank until you can add some corals? is there a set avg time? talking about softies

Not sure about corals, but I was told not to have anything less than a 50/50 ratio of dead/live rock. You need at least 50% LR to successfully seed the other I believe. HTH.
 
Live Sand is a bit of a rip of really

Just use Argonite Sand & your Life rock will seed your sandbed with life
Have a look at Reef Bones
 
Not really a set time

There are way to many variables

But I would say to give it a month or so after setting the tank up as this will give you time to get some reasearch on what corals you can maintain & would like
