Question on tank size

would a five and one half gallon be cool to grow some stuff on some live rock and 2-3 peppermint shrimp. and if so what lighting and filter choice. thanx

you could do that. Maybe 1 peppermint shrimp would be better? for lighting I would need the dimentions on the tank, but an 18W powercompact light would be nice... for your filter/waterflow you could just run a HOTB filter with macro algea in it.

if you only have inverts (i.e. shrimps, snails crabs etc) then liverock is more than adequate for filtration.

yeah i just posted another post because thats all i want. live rock can be my only filter too?

its not essential for a HOB filter. this will be of use to help keep the water clean with sponges ect but as i mentioned its not essential.
