Does a pump need to be in the water? related to this <a href="http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=277044" target="_blank">http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=277044</a>

I have a pump with a 12/16m outtake and I would assume a 16/20 intake and its taking up quite a lot of room in my aquarium So I want to mount it on the desk behind the aquarium out of sight. Has anyone tried this before?

Edit: my research has told me my model is able to be externally mounted now just want tips on how to actually do it :)

So your wanting to connect a pump up on your table? It can work but I have not tried it.

Yeah going to stick it to my table will take pics once its done and add it to my guide.

If your pump has BOTH inlet and outlet then its designed to operate "out of water" !!!!!!
If if only has an outlet, then you simple immerse it in a sealed container, and provide an inlet... that's all a cannister filter is !
