Question on Internal Filters

Do these internal filters provide biological filtration also (i.e., promote the growth of healty bacteria), or only mechanical filtration?

It has a piece of foam inside so that will provide mechanical and biological filtration

very few filters won't provide you with biological filtration as most mechanical filters use a sponge or floss...
