Question On Cichlids

I was going to buy one from Pets at Home 2day, a yellow one (dunno the exact name!) and they said i couldn't buy one because they eat everything ? What are the compatiable with?

pretty much only the fish from the same lake although there are some acceptions, you could keep catfish such as synodontis, and some plecos like bristlenose. thats about it as for african cichlids
