Does anyone have specific info on the Batrachus trispinosus? I know they are sold as FW but really belong in BW. I just picked one up today and I have him residing in FW as thats what he was in at the LFS but if he really does need BW then I'd be more then happy to convert this aquarium over or to add him to my existing BW tank.

Should it be housed alone or would it be ok with other non aggressive fish. I assumed alone so he currently has a 30 gallon by itself, but I would entertain the idea of adding it to my 55 with my 2 Gobioides broussonnetii and one Dormitator lebretonis. None of these are aggresive and they are big enough to keep from being a meal. But the spines venomous spines are what have me worried about adding him in there.

Anyway, does anyone know what salinity he should be kept at? I can't find this info anywhere.. also what temp should he be kept in?

Thanks..

Hi, this question may be better suited in the brackish forum. Yes, they really need brackish water, anywhere from a SG of 1.010 and up is fine. Normal tropical temperatures are fine. They can be housed with larger fish that aren't small enough to swallow. They do need a cave or some type of territory or they can get a bit aggressive. They are pretty inactive, sulking 90% of the time and prefer to eat during the night. 30 gallons will be too small for him, moving him to the 55 would be a good idea. I wouldn't worry too much about the venomus spines, the fish should avoid them.

PS- If you do move him to the 55 I would be wary of the territory. One dragon goby, the sleeper, and the toadfish would work out fine but when the 2 dragon gobies grow to adult lenghts territory will probably be an issue in a 55 gallon tank.
