brenda, is your tank near a window, that could cause algae. otherwise how long are your tank lights on for a day, what (if any) plants you have in the tank & what your water parameters are (nitrite, nitrate, ammonia).

every tank has its boss fish, this molly sounds like yours. if its not harassing a single fish too much, don't worry about it.

Sounds like momma molly rules - I'd not worry too much if she isn't picking on the same fish the whole time. Does she do any real damage?
They make neat little scrubbers to take the algea off - how fast is it growing and how much is it covering?

ALASKA

And :hi: to the forum!

Naw she does not pick on the same fish all the time. Sorry took so long to replay PC had crashed. Think she is just greedy with food. Junior Molly is coming on great now had to give the rest of the fry away as too many in tank but kept one.

Can anyone tell me how long these fish will grow too?

Sword Tails

Neon Tetra's

Thank you

Hey, I just read that Swordtails will be about 3" and Neon Tetras will be about 1.25". hope I helped!

I'm also a beginner. I have one Spotted Pleco (Gibbiceps)and have recently added three Otocinclus (all babies) and my glass looks like it's been given the "once over" by the local window cleaner. It is absolutely spotless. They are all great algae eaters and never seem to stop "munching". I don't have my tank in any direct sunlight, but within about three days of putting in my first fish and plants, I noticed green splodges on the inside of the glass. The "Gibby" soon cleared that up and now that the Otocinclus have joined him, the algae are on a "loser".

haha i have 3 otos in my 25G and i'ts been about 2-3 weeks now and i haven't had to scrub the tank once yet :D it's still sparkling clean, and i'm hoping it'll stay that way lol
