My betta is in a 1/2g bowl and I can't seem to get the temp above 74 or 75 degrees and right now I just did a 100% water change and put him in one of those holding containers that lps use when they scoop fish out and put them in their before they bag them and I set this holding container in my 10g that has a heater and his came out so cool and he is swimming a little faster in this holding container. He really seems like he likes the warm temps and he also seems likes he wants to be in their but can't because their are red eyed and x-ray tetras in their. Is their a way to raise the temp in his fish bowl to 78? Oh and the fish bowl is temporary until his fins completly heal.

You could try putting him under a light, or raising the temperature in your room a little. You've probably heard a million times about finding a bigger home, so I won't bug you about it. I think you mentioned getting an upgrade in a separate post anyway.

Well he is under a lamp that is on for about six hours aday. And thank you for not hounding me about the size of the bowl and to everyone else HE WILL BE MOVED TO A BIGGER TANK! But even with the lamp thats what keeps it at 74 to 75 if I'm even reading the thermometer and its giving me correct readings. It may be even lower than 74 to 75. :dunno: CAn't raise temp in room because we have air on and if we turned the air down it would get to hot. Any other way to raise temp besides adding water from a heated tank to it because that would only raise it a couple degrees and it would go back down in awhile.

If you don't trust your thermometer, then I suggest you get a new one. There are places in a room that are hotter than others (for example, where a computer is or other electronics), but the risk for electrocution makes that a rotten choice. We don't want a fried Durbkat, now do we? :p I'm not sure about reptile pads for a tank your size. Chances are, if you're comfortable, your betta will be ok. You just need to make sure that your thermometer is accurate. For now, try increasing the amount of light for a longer time period, or alternate off and on to stabilize the temperature (like 4 hours on, 4 off, 4 on, etc). 6 hours may not be sufficient to warm the tank to your desired temperature. My bettas lamps are on all day, but my tanks are a little bigger.
