i am going to devide me 29. gal and get a pair of bnoses to breed :) ....i was wondering (i have heard they are very sensitive to water conditions) my tank has been set up for about 2 months and im guessing is fully cycled ...i have no sick fish at the moment .... and i keep a norm. pleco in there with two swords .... would bnoses be alright in a tank that a norm. pleco would be okay in ??? im guessing yes ... also are there any conditions that b noses will not breed in ?? thanx

p.s i am supplying them with a nice piece of driftwod
will the male pick on the female if she gets to close to the eggs ?

by normal do you mean a 'common' plec?

If so - sorry for the bad news but a 29gal isn't big enough for him :( at some point you'll have to look at rehoming him as they can get to 18+ inches.

What sort of filtration do you have on the tank also - to care for a common and 2 bristlenoses you'll need a very good filter (or 2) as they will all poo lots.

as for compatibility - they should be fine, just make sure they have hiding places of their own.

If you do end up getting to the point of eggs - the male should protect them from anyone and everyone. the female is unlikely to go back to them though.

yes my commmon plec is only bout 1 and a half inch ... i have a normal inder gravel filter with a whisper 700 pump .....also what exactley does the male used the bristles for b sidesantena doe she use them to protect himself/young

I guess they are for show - eg courtship and for male ranking. if you go see some you'll see that they are actually floppy - not spiky or sharp.
