ok so i have 2 tanks set up for newts in one tank i hav 5 fire bellies, (black backs, orange/ red bellies) and in my other tank i have 3 newts, (fire bellies but a dark yellowy backs) my lighter newts are way more active, attempting to swim round the tank and coming to the glass when i'm nearby to have a nosey. whereas my five fire bellies in my other tank dont seem to move, they did slightly when i first bought them but not now. they just sit, granted they change possitions but i dont see them climb onto thier island. can't see anything wrong with the water as i use ro. any suggestions or am i worrying over nothing?

oh and i forgot, i have shrimp in my newt and crab tanks, is that ok?

Do you know what kind of fire bellies they are, ie. Japanese or Chinese? (not hugely relevant, I'm just curious)
What is your water temperature?
How is the tank set up?
Are there any other signs to make you think they're unhealthy? This sort of behavior isn't necessarily indicative of a problem.

To be honest so long as they look and seem healthy I wouldn't worry. I have three chinese fire bellied newts in the same tank and some are more active than the others.

Also shrimp in the tank is fine, I used to have shrimp in with mine (although they hid most of the time). The newts may occasionally snack on a shrimp; however my newts didn't really like the shrimp (they just didn't seem impressed with them).
