Okay, so before I bought Dot, i'd seen other more "normal" looking parrots. She was the only one who looked as she did in the pet shop, and she was full of character so I couldn't resist her :D

She was sold to me as a Heart Parrot because she lacks a tail fin, and i'd heard of these before so that wasn't odd to me - it's just that she lacks the orangeness, or any colour really - she's almost like skin-pink... by that I want to emphasise that I don't think she's dyed because she's so so pale. The only marking she has is the black splodge on her forehead.

I read through Athena's thread about her short-bodied pink convicts, and to me Dot looks more like one of those than a proper parrot - she doesn't have the beak-like head for starters, just a very neat curve.

I'm just curious to see what you guys say. She spends most of her time with my orange parrot, digging up my plants and moving gravel, lol.

to me it looks like it has more red devil in it then blood parrot it could only be 25% blood parrot and the rest red devil.
the body form to me looks to be a red devil with its tail being cut off.
shouldnt support this kinda stuff bad for the fish.
but take car of her well to counter out the horror of its tail being cut off.

Well to me when I look at her back end, it doesn't look like her tail has been chopped off, as it meets in the middle - I've read that when the tails are cut off, there is a gap where the tail once was.

Thanks for the input though :)

looks like a red devil to me too or a severum not sure though i had a red devil given to me but my gourami didn't like it so i gave it to a lfs my mate owns. thats wot it looks mostly to me :good:

One of my BP.. about 6 or 7 inches long.. She is dark orange in the morning and as the day go's on she gets a white orange.. She is perfectly healthy. Lay's eggs every month .. I have 7 BP and she is the only one who seems to get light. I do find that when they are young their color sometimes takes a long time to get bright. She still has some black on her so she might have just changed from a juvinal color (dark almost black).. I've had them get quite light before turning yellow then bright orange.

Thanks guys :D think i've come to the conclusion that I just have a very funny little fishy, hehe. She's very entertaining

Its very similar to one of mine. You basically just got a less deformed one and lighter as they can be white to very deep red the same as red devils.

The tails are cut though regardless of what you've heard. Fish generally are not born without tails. Think of the oodles of convicts born and have you ever seen one without a tail thats not also been dyed or painted?

Oh no :( I feel bad that she's lost her tail... I thought it was a genetic thing :shout:

My poor baby *hugs her tank*

Ahh well as long as you give it a good home. The tail less ones are more prone to swimming abnormalities than normal parrots though most seem to do fine.
