In my 20 gallon tank I have 2 neon Tetras 2 Ghost Shrimp and 4 frogs. I was thinking to top it off, I want to add a Lobbster.

My question is besides maybe killing the Ghost Shrimp do you think the lobbster will kill the frogs? I was thinking something like a 3'' Blue Lobbster no bigger.

I'd say it safe to bet the lobster would appreciate the live snacks that live in that tank, however I don't thik the current inhabitans would appreciate the lobster for long. There's really no safe bet on keeping any fish alive in a lobster/cray tank. A species tank is the way to go...

The lobster would eat almost everything it could catch besides

lobsters = saltwater

crayfish = freshwater

I heard people keeping Crayfish with their fish and having no problem. Besides I am thinking of changing my tank.

Current in the 20 gallon:

2 Ghost Shrimp
2 Neon Tetras
4 Frogs

I also have a 10 and 30 gallon tank that have no more room. I am planning on getting a 3 or 5 gallon tank and would put the 2 Neons and 2 shrimp in there.

My new plan is to have in the 20 gallon:

4 Frogs
1 Snail
1 Crayfish
2 clams

What do you think of the change? What do you think of the things I want to put in the tank?

Not sure what type he is, but I can give you an idea about their hunting abilities. I bought one last week and it died yesterday mid-moult. In was in a 32G witha a half dozen deformed juvenile apisto's (rather than cullthan by my own hand). I replaced the blue lobster today nd the new much smaller lobster had caught an eaten a fish wiithin an hour of being in the tank. At dinner time I looked and saw a fish swimming awkwardly with no tail. A few minutes later he was caught again by the blue cray and finished off. The other crayfish didn't pay much attention to the apisto's in the week I had him. Every individual is a little different....

you dont say where you are, if you are in the UK you can only keep Australian Redclaw Cherax quadricarinatus. but if not check your local laws.

A 3" Blue Lobster will turn into a 7-10 lobster in time. 20 gallons is way too small. they can and do live in communities, though just popping them in is not an option. an none mature tank of fish will not fair well if you add a Cray. Though the size is no real indication of Cray age, it sounds like the Cray you are looking at, may do ok, but the fish it is with must be mature. Cray do have different temprements, and these change with the species! Cherax quadricarinatus is not a hunter, its a scavenger, so well feed, it is less likely to give problems.

I have to say that my Cray shows no signs, of aggression , indeed a Glasscat shares its cave. this picture is posted on this forum. but i still count my fish every morning!

I live in the USA- Maryland.

Like I said I want to take out my 2 Neons and 2 Ghost Shrimp and put them in a 3 Gallon.

Like I said, now I want to have in the 20 gallon:

4 Frogs
1 Snail
1 Crayfish
2 clams

Everything on the list except the frogs I do not have.

I have had the 4 Frogs for about 2 months and do not want them to die.

Boil in salted water. Serve with drawn butter and a nice Chardonnay.
(I just couldn't stop myself).

lol it crosses my mind too. best thing about a Cray is, if it gets too big and bad, they taste lovely!!!!!!

clams and snail are in peril, id leave the neons in and move my clams and snail. if the frogs have access to a dry area, make sure its well secured, Crays love a walk!
