-_- Is it ok to put my male betta in my 10 gal tank with the rest of my community fish. I have 1 gourami, 2 mollies, 2 guppies. Will he hurt them?

depends on the fish. he might think the guppies are male bettas cos they're so colourful, and try to attack them. he might not go well with the gourami either..it depends. where is he now?

Many would say no, but many members here have successfully done it.

Even in lfs, you will see 1 in a tank with other fish. So I guess it is okay :)

Not the best idea. Guppies long fins can resemble another male betta which will provoke aggression in your betta. It's also a bad idea to put bettas with other anabantoids ( like your gourami) The mollies may be ok, but that's neither here nor there as the others won't.

Bettas are solitary fish by nature and tend to be happier on their own anyway

i have my beta in the tank with 2 angels,2 cats,1 female guppy,3 neons and a bala shark i went through 2 male guppies after reading the post id say he got rid of them but he looks extremely happy in the tank witht he other fish :-\ i also have a female beta which is by her self would they go at each other?

it really is best ot keep male bettas alone.
the exceptions i would say are a few peaceful bottom feeders such as cories.
otos work well too.

many members here keep bettas in community tanks but i never recommend it to anyone.
only keep a betta in a community tank if you are an experienced fish keeper and really know what you are doing (ie-you dont need to ask anyone any questions)
often times it is not the betta that is the bully as many might think.

no males and females together unless you are an experienced breeder (and are breeding them). they can easily kill each other-even in the few short hours of being in a breeding tank.

What size tank is that? The bala will need a 55 at least and that size tank is not good for a betta at all. Bettas don't want to be in cups or anything but 1-10 gllons is the best for keeping them stress free.

I have a betta in a community tank. In my experience, male bettas will harass guppies.

But they can become a victim, too, especially when kept with mollies. Two may not be such a problem, but I have 4, and they out-compete the betta for food, so I have to hand feed him.

But it depeds on each individual. Bettas r supposed to hate moving water, but my boy spends all day in the midst of the airstone bubbles :D

Maybe try it for a while, if it doesn't work so well, you can always seperate him again
