I was just wondering how my pleco is going to eat it. Does he wait until it's all dissolved into the water and then eat it off the bottom/glass of the tank. Or does he go up to it and munch on it? I'm not sure if he's eating or not. I've tried everything even zucchni. But because i never see him eat - I don't know if he's hungry. Is there a way to look at the stomach to see if it's hungry or not? :shout:

mine were on it like a shot as soon as it hit the substrate, they don't mess about if it's a food they want.

try and look at its stomach if it ever rests on the glass of the tank, a hollow belly is pretty east to spot, see this link for a comparison between a healthy Chaetostoma sp. (on the left) and a malnourished Panaque L191 (that died the day after, failed LFS rescue attempt) on the right.

what plec is it?

He's just a common brittlenose plec, he's about 1.5-2 inches now and he definately doesn't have a hollow stomach *phew*. All I know is that he doesn't dive towards the food =(

p.s. He doesn't have a full stomach like the plec on the left in your picture. It's just not hollow.

Leave the zuchini in overnight near to where he spends most of his time, he will soon get used to it, i'm yet to see Ancistrus sp3 that doesn't devour it!

when he is used to it he will eat during the day.

In the meantime it will be eating Aufwuchs in your tank, so unless its belly looks hollow i wouldn't worry about it too much.

The algae discs are disappeared and my plec has a nice round tum-tum. Thank you! I guess he just needed time to get used to his surroundings lol
