Question About Adding A Clown

Hey guys, i have a 36gallon with 1clown, 1fire fish, 1watchman goby, 1clown goby..
I really want to get a black clown, but u heard you cant add a clown, only if they have been introduced together. so can i just take the orange clown and black clown and put them in a seperate mutual hospital tank for a week, then add them both to the main tank? or do i have to give my clown away and buy 2 at the same time?

Well now, you have two problems really:

Adding a second clown
Adding a clown of a different colour

Both are do-able, but also both have been known to fail.

Buy the smallest juvie clown you can find and add him to the tank as any other fish - but you must be ready with a small tank to remove him if the female takes a dislike to him, otherwise she will hound him until he is dead

Yeah as Seffie said really. How big is the clown you have at the moment?

I had one orange perc clown and added a much smaller Black and White and they have got along great and I have never had any aggression between the two. You just have to make sure the one you add is smaller (ideally you want the smallest one out of a group in the LFS to make sure it is not a female). Generally it will go ok but be prepared to remove one of them if it doesn't.
