Hi guys.
I previously quarentined my fish for 2 weeks in a 10gallon tank with an internal filter and a bit of live rock. After having lost all my fish I plan on increasing my quarentine period to at least 4 weeks. I just wondered if there was a mroe suitible way to run a quarentine tank? any ideas?

Yeah, best to keep it as simple as possible. The bigger the tank the better, have a cycled filter on there (best to run a filter on your main tank all the time so you can quickly switch it to the QT when you need to).

Keep it bare (no LR as you may have to use copper in it), just use things like PVC pipe and plant pots (as Ben suggested) to give some cover. I use plastic plants as well.

Having a UV unit can help as well when using it for treating fish (and as a precaution when buying new fish).

Ok so a bigger tank, I will look into getting a 15gal then.
One more thing, the internal filter I am using is for up to 15 gal in tropical tanks, but it says you should use the next model up for marine, but since the q tank will only have one fish in at a time, will it still be enough? It contains a floss pad, a course pad and around 10 ceramic rings for biological filtration.
I guess if I keep an eye on water params it should be fine.

Yeah for just 1 fish I would say it would be fine. You might want to keep some ammonia removing media to hand as well just in case (something like ammolock or polyfilter). That way if the filter isnt doing the job you have a backup. I always keep some polyfilter to hand as it removes lots of different things from the water and is useful in an emergency.

Ok cheers barney. Luckily I have some ammolock in my arsonal of tank stuff haha

Just double check on the ammolock that it is ok for SW, Im 90% sure it is but havent used it myself on SW. Always useful to have around though :)
