Quarantine

How long should I leave a new fish in quarantine? IS there anything special that needs to be done during this time?

a minimum of two weeks is standard

the Q tank should be a cycled one and feed as normal.

I would say a week or two. Again it would depend on the $ value of your fish I guess

I would recommend a mild salt solution with stress zyme. I believe that using potassium permanganate, malachite green or any other medication maybe too stressful to the fish.
