Hi I'm relatively new to the hobby and have a 60L aquarium with 9 neon tetras and 3 small Cory's. I'm always in doubt about the right amount of food to give them. Currently they receive 1/2 a pastille (animalis corydoras) each day.
Can anyone give advice as to whether I'm in the right zone for the amount of food please?

Regards John

It's very difficult because food brands and formats differ from country to country.

I always look at what I want to feed them, and then give them half of that. We all have a tendency to overfeed our fish. You have species that like to feed slowly, so the old 'what they can eat in 5 minutes' doesn't work.

One rule I follow is variety though. I always have at least 3 different brands and types of food on hand, and I feed them in rotation to make sure the fish get the nutrition variety should provide.

One thing that tells you that you are overfeeding is algae growth. I got loads of it then cut right back on food. It took some time to settle things out but none of the fish died of starvation.
Also, I find that feeding flake food means a good amount of it ends up in nooks and crannies and gets overlooked by the corys. What I tend to do now is to give more frozen stuff, bloodworm etc. You can see it drifting down and not much of it actually reaches the bottom before it's snapped up.
