Hello! I got this great idea, i think  , to put a fogger in my 55 gallon aquarium. I think it would like nice if i had it on a timer and have it turn on in the middle of the 12 hours of light my plants get for about 3-4 hours. Is it safe for my fish? Would 4 hours of reduced light hurt my plants? Does anyone have any objections to this idea? :/

Umm, foggers are really for reptile tanks to create a mist. I don't see how you could create a mist in water. I guess it depends on what you have.

ummm, that's not what i asked, i asked if it was safe :p I actually think water is required for this fogger to work and it's for reptile tanks/ponds. That's why I suspect it might just work in an aquarium. But i might just be crazy  So no one is going to object?

   It is not what you asked

Back to question; It should be safe, I have seen set ups in Pet shops with geckos and fish, was real cool. Look like swamp

your plants might suffer...

But i'd be more bothered about the actual fogger... It works by agitating the water above a ceramic disc. the disc vibrates very quickly (ultra sonic frequencies) and it gives the water a very odd property...

the water although still cold can melt through things... it you put your finger in the mist out put it will tingle but the closer you put your finger to the disc - the more it hurts...

They spray water about 4" into the air in droplets an will make a mess. In an effort to stop this I placed the lid from a plastic pot over the fogger... a few seconds later there was a melted hole in the lid

I would never trust one of these in a reptile tank due to this.

oh and they need to be about 1" below the surface so you would need to get a float for it.

but i want to know if it's safe tooo......
does any one know if its safe for the fish and plants?will it harm them? is it at all possible to have a mist maker with fish?? perhaps seperately, above the tank? with the mist falling on to the top of the water. is the mist itself harmful?
