I ordered a shipment of 25 dwarf cories from BetterBettas. :p

I need to get a tank ready. :D I suppose they will be here Monday night or Tuesday morning. :D Actually get a spot for a tank ready and put in another filter somewhere

25, thats great i wish i could get hold of that many in one go. My LFS has stopped stocking them but i'm going on holiday to Cornwall at the end of the month so i have to check out Trimar. Hopefully i'll be bringing at least 8 habrosus corys back with me if they can package them well (it's an 8 hour drive) if not i'll see if i can pick out the fish i want an get them posted for the next day. Hopefully they'll have zebra ottos in stock too.

Congrats

Emma

I chickened out and didn't get the habrosus. It saved about $5.00 getting the Pygmaeus. I felt frugal.

Actually I ordered the CrackerJack Surprise bettas. It was already 40 usd for shipping so I figured I'd get the cories on the same order for a $1.50 a piece + $.20 a piece shipping. They are so small I figure I can add a covey to each tank. :D

My lfs doesn't stock them either, although they would order them for me. But then it would cost oodles more.

Blue Bettas USA, where I ordered, showed the picture of a Corydoras Hastatus. I liked it but it wasn't in stock.

Remember it takes about 1/2 or 1/3 more of our dollars to your pounds.

I REALLY splurged on the bettas  :fun:

I hope you set up a matured tank in this time, pygmy corys can be very sensitive, i have lost them at the drop of a hat. Use filter sponges and gravel from an existing tank to instantly cycle a tank once it is up to temperature.

I have two extra bio-wheel filters running in an existing tank that tests correctly. I have Eco-Planted Aquarium substrate that is suppose to have bio spira in it. I don't want to actually start the substrate until there are fish.

I could spread the cories around in some smaller established tanks so they won't overcome the new system.

I might set up a tank and put a couple of my terrorist serpaes in until the cories get here. There is one that is just on a rampage constantly. Come to think of it I might put him in one of the new tanks for now. I could even partition him off.

I can as well put some decor from an established well balanced tank. I got some new plants that need to go in, so some decore needs to come out.

Poor fish, the decorating god is coming.

Thanks for making me work on my plan. I know I have what I need, but I did last time too and I got called to work and didn't have it worked out well. I lost all my hatchets. The BN and otos made it fine, but the hatchets dropped like doves at dove season. And it didn't have to be, I had everything.

How big are the pygmies. It didn't say igf they are juvies either. What size tank do I need for 25?

They're tiny - even when fully grown - they're just over 1". I suppose theoreticaly a 30 gallon would be enough but it would need to be one with a large surface area to give them room to swim aorund in a large group. I'd probably give them a 55 gallon to make them more comfortable and add some small schooling fish or something peaceful like that as tankmates.

Can they be with a male betta? I could split them between 4 or five tanks. The Hex 5 with a male betta, a 20 gallon with a couple of serpae, 2 ten gal with a betta or two (I can get another tank divider), and of course the 12 gallon eclipse that is about ready to move some guys out. I also have a small refugium that can be inserted in one of the 10 or 20's. One of the new bettas could go in it or the crazy serpae.

(After all the trouble the Maracyn worked right away without anything else. If I had just reached the tech earlier. I ended up with 7 out of 12 little neons and 2 out of 4 otos.)

If they are smaller, like 1/2 ", what can I do just during the first 3 weeks?

I have two more small tanks for the bettas coming. Early next week probably.

What do you think? It was my poor arangements that lost my hatchets.
