Okay, I just made some over-flows and was wondering how long I should let the PVC cement dry before I put it in the tank?

The can says 1 hour, but it still smells? I don't know if it is okay or not?

Thanks!

If you mean silicon then 48 hours will do it.

the stuff ive used (used a few brands) needs 8 hours atleast so id leave it for that long

Thanks for the replies!

It is not silicon, it is the PVC cement that has a VERY strong smell to it that would get you high if you sniffed too much of it. lol

An hour is fine, rinse with water first if you are going to use it with fish. Between water & air I don't know how much PVC is in use ATM, safe to say I have half a house worth in my 8'x16' fishroom.

i just left it a day before attempting to use it, struggling to get it to actually work now though any tips on starting the flow and making sure it still works once the power goes out and comes back on?

keep in mind, drying and curing are two completely different chemical processes.
just because its dry, does not mean its ready to use in your tank.

Yes I know. I just used dry as a broad term, followed by "when would it be safe for use."
