I'm looking into doing sort of a DIY undergravel setup with pvc tubes. Curious to what kind of glue any of you have used in the past for PVC that would be aquarium safe. I'm assuming the stuff from my shop (plumbng outfit) isn't going to be too healthy.

Also does anyone know what the outside diameter of the pipe needs to be to fit into the bottom of an Aquaclear 70 powerhead? Unsure if it's plain Schedule 40 pvc or if it's cpvc that would fit.

hi well I have read that you really don't need to glue them together it won't matter if it leaks
but if you really want to glue them together use regular pvc cement and let it dry for 24 hours just to be safe

I don't have a clue about diameter of the pipe.

some one else may help

good luck

That's what I was thinking about it leaking.. that and the substrate will be immediatly on top of it to help hold it together. I guess only worry would be it coming apart and having to take the whole tank down to fix it.

i would use some aquarium safe sealant from your local lfs. im using it for my paludarium build. as long as it has cured for at lest 48 hours it should be safe. its about £7 for 75g.
