puffers

Most puffers are acctually brackish fish, bet there are a few that would work in this set up such as Dwarf puffers, Congospotted puffer (NOT Grean Spotted Puffers), or south american puffersa, such fast and or sedentary fish should be fine with all that room to avoid the puffers beack, ASk in the oddballs section!

I thought the dwarf puffers were absoltuly adorable and concidered getting them when I was getting my fish.... the lady at the lfs told me they could be aggressive and advised against it so I didn't get them.... :(

oh they are agressive, but the fish in that tank are strong, Corys have tought fins and so do plecos and both have armour so they arent threatened and Danios and tiger barbs are fast swimmers who can take a good nip here and there and still keep going

No I'm sorry you wont find any puffer that wont chew off the long fins of an angel fish, also If you set this tank up dont use long finned danios, they will be easy puffer prey.

We used to have cories with our Dwarf puffers, but we had to move them as the puffers killed one of the cories and ate the fins of the other three.

Cory fins may be tough, but they're no match against jaws that can crush snails.

There are no puffer species suitable for a comminity tank.

Accept the exceptions :p there's always some. My dps have been good in my community tank. Granted I have mostly tiger barbs in there and they've only been in there for around 6 months, but I also have lots of plants and places for the puffers to hide (buried shotglasses etc...) if they wanna get away for a while

Same here, I had two SAP's in with my cories and the puffers loved the fins, they also had nips out of my neon rainbows which have very short fins and are fast. They now live with the snails :D

There are hundreds of puffers species. Some are solely freshwater, some are brackish, some are marine, some are freshwater as juveniles that move up to brackish, some are brackish that move up to marine.

All puffers are considered to be aggressive, although some owners have had luck in community tanks. Some owners have had luck for years until the puffer finally grabbed another fish off. The best advice anyone could use is to utilize common sense and be cautious. It is better to not take a chance at seeing who can endure whom because it simply isn't worth the lose of fish.

I, personally, have no lost any fish to any of my puffers...I have FW, Brackish and SW. However, I have simply done my homework and not taken chances. Some aren't as lucky even with proper planning. Some individual puffers are quite docile when young and become incredibly territorial as they grow larger or older. Some individual puffers remain calm and passive their entire lives. Some are nasty little buggers from the get-go. It differs per fish and tank size.

Personally, I would scratch the other fish and just get a Congo :p Good luck!

P.S. You might have better luck posting in Oddball's...most puffer talk happens there! Edit: Nevermind, it was moved hehe
