I bought a freshwater, spotted puffer the other day and placed him within my juwel 180 l comunity tank, the water levels are fine but i noteched that the lense on one of his eyes is swollen and a littet cloudy. I have just added a treatment of melafix, what else can i do????

What are the chances of him recovering???

Thanks

So the eye is not bulging out, cloudy eye is a symtom of a desease, any signs of flicking and rubbing as cloudy can can be a symtom of whitespot, and velvet, any white specks on the eye, can you post your water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
Cloudy eye can also be due to old age, bad diet, and stress.

I had an SAP puffer who had a cloudy eye. After treating him with melafix for a week, he was fine.

You may have made an error with a "freshwater spotted puffer". Puffers are not community fish and will eat small fish and nip fins of tankmates.

Furthermore, I hate to a bearer of yet more bad news, most puffers sold as "spotted" are indeed, not freshwater, but brackish water, more than likely making it incompatible with it's current tankmates.
