Fish Fanatic
As you probably already know, we keep two Palembangensis puffers, each in a 240 litre tank. They can see eachother and are often showing aggression towards eachother, although we feel this stimulates them. It is apparent that these two will not tolerate any other tank mates.
The point of this topic was to share with you our experience of Mildred, the larger one which we believe to be a female, puffing up.
I don`t want to start another topic on the dangers of puffing up or arguments on the subject i merely wanted to share the fact of how intelligent these fish are.
When we first got her she was quite ill and wasn`t feeding, we got her to take food off a stick and that is now the only way she will eat.
However, if we don`t feed her by 8pm ( her usual time) she puffs up.
She has puffed up four times only, and each time has been just after 8pm. She comes right to the front of the tank to do it to catch your attention to tell you it is past feeding time!!
We find this fascinating, although we don`t encourage it. Has anyone else had any similar experiences like this?
Clare and Karl
